Citizens Advice Sunderland

There are changes being made to the benefits system, and Sunderland Citizens Advice is here to help.

Children under the age of 16 who are currently in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) will have their DLA stopped once they turn 16, and will instead be invited to apply for Personal Independence Payment (PIP).

The criteria for PIP is different to DLA and looks at both daily care needs and mobility. Eligibility for PIP is awarded on a point based system. The form required for a PIP application can be lengthy and complex, and you may need advice or help to fill in the form before sending it off.

Citizens Advice Sunderland is able to help those living in SR1, SR2, SR5, SR6, Doxford or Millfield to complete the form. If you require assistance to complete the PIP form, you can call to make an appointment on 0191 4174048.
