Work Experience

We are immensely proud of the work placement links we have been able to establish over the last few years and we continue to strive to find new and exciting placements for our Sixth Form students.

Café Ascent has been developed to provide work experience in a real business.  In partnership with Springboard Café Ascent is open to the public serving food and drinks and offers hospitality for events.

We are proud to work with Leonard Cheshire and students are participating in Change Now project to match students to work placements.  We are supported by George Washington Railway Museum as part of this project.

We work in partnership with Ryhope Community Centre where students help to serve food and drink to community groups each week.

It is invaluable for our students to continue having such opportunities and very important that we continue to source more opportunities as we realise that such experiences can enable our students to build their confidence, independence, improve communication, social skills and to have a platform in order to showcase their existing skills.

On behalf of Barbara Priestman Academy a big thank you to all of the organisations that have supported our students in the past, those that continue to support us and new providers that will support us this year.

If you are an employer and would like to work with us to provide work placement opportunities please contact
